Industrial scale

The Hildesheim company Bitzer Wiegetechnik was founded in 1948 as a scales service company and has developed into an established manufacturer of industrial scales thanks to its know-how in this specialist area. Industrial scales can be used in many areas and are characterized by their robust material properties (at least IP65). Of course, all accompanying services as well as modernizations and conversions will continue to be carried out by the company. In addition, Bitzer Wiegetechnik GmbH offers specially developed software solutions for the convenient operation of industrial scales.

The industrial scales in production processes

For example, the industrial scale is integrated into production processes as a floor scale. The weighing electronics can be integrated into existing process control systems via various interfaces. For example, the connection is made via Profibus or Profinet interfaces. The industrial scale is either above ground or built into a foundation at ground level. The scales are loaded with the material to be weighed either manually or automatically.

Software

Using certain software, it is possible, for example, to count the piece goods that are weighed on the scales. The connected weighing electronics usually have such software that is stored in the embedded system. However, it is also possible to connect industry-specific weighing software to an industrial scale in order to be able to conveniently operate the scale and evaluate the weighing results. A further step is the connection to on-site merchandise management systems. This connection can either be made directly from the electronic weighing system or via the interfaces of an interposed PC program.

Model

Of course, the industrial scale can also be used as a stand-alone scale. The spectrum of industrial scales ranges from small platform scales and robust floor scales to vehicle and heavy-duty scales. Furthermore, a distinction is made between verifiable and non-verifiable scales. It is important to note whether quantities are determined via the respective industrial scales that are used for billing or whether it is a matter of pure check weighing. If the weights that were determined using the scales are billed, an industrial scale must be assessed for conformity in order to be put into commercial use. New scales can be placed on the market by the manufacturer, provided they have the appropriate certification. The statutory recalibration, which must take place after 2 or 3 yearsdepending on the weighing capacity of the scales, is the responsibility of the calibration office. The calibration office also carries out random checks as part of market surveillance and in the interests of consumer protection.
